Scan the card. Know what it is, and what it's worth.
Identifying a card by eye means knowing the set, the number, the rarity and whether it's the reverse holo. ScanDex reads all four off the camera and tells you what the market paid for that exact variant this week.
What it does
- 01
Camera scan with variant-level ID
Not just "which card" but which printing — edition, rarity, reverse holo, set number. The variant is where nearly all of the price difference is.
- 02
Live prices with 30-day movement
Current market value, the change over the last month, and a trend badge, so a number has context instead of being a number.
- 03
Collection value that updates itself
A portfolio view of everything you own with the daily change, refreshed as market data does. No spreadsheet to maintain.
- 04
Set checklists and gaps
Progress per set and what you are missing, which turns "I collect this set" into a list you can actually finish.
- 05
Watchlist and price alerts
Favourite the cards you are hunting and follow their movement without re-searching them every week.

Why we built it
Collectors do not have a “which card is this” problem. They have a “which printing is this, and is that the one that’s worth eighty pounds or the one that’s worth four” problem — and that difference lives in details you cannot see from across a table.
ScanDex is built around that distinction. The scan is only useful if it resolves the variant, and the price is only useful if it belongs to the variant the scan resolved.
Questions
01How does ScanDex identify a card?
You point the camera at the card and ScanDex matches it against its catalogue, returning the exact set, card number, rarity and variant — including whether it is a reverse holo or an alternate printing.
02How current are the prices?
Market data refreshes daily, and each card shows its 30-day movement alongside the current value so you can see the direction, not just today's number.
03Is ScanDex an official app?
No. ScanDex is an unofficial app made for collectors and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any card publisher or brand. Prices are market observations shown to support collecting decisions, not investment advice.
04Can I use ScanDex for free?
Yes. The free plan includes three scans per day, and manual search plus your collection view stay open. A subscription removes the daily scan limit, and a three-day free trial is available.
05Which sets does ScanDex cover?
Coverage spans modern and legacy releases across the major trading card games, and the catalogue is extended as new sets are released.
