Sound for working, and sound for stopping

A focus session and a sleep session need different things from an audio app. Flow carries both: curated ambient sets, a Pomodoro timer that runs inside the music, and downloads for the times you have no signal.

What it does

  1. 01

    Sets built for one activity

Deep work, reading, meditation, sleep. Each set is assembled for its activity rather than shuffled from one generic ambient pool.

  2. 02

    Pomodoro inside the music

The timer runs as part of the session, so a break is signalled by the sound changing rather than an alarm cutting across it.

  3. 03

    Ambient video backdrops

Optional slow-moving visuals for the sessions where staring at a phone is the point — a fireplace, rain on a window, a night city.

  4. 04

    Works with no signal

Download the sets you use and Flow keeps working on a flight, on the Tube, or anywhere the connection drops.

  5. 05

Search by mood, not by title

Find sound by what you are about to do. The library is indexed by activity and mood, because nobody knows the name of the track they want.

Why we built it

Flow came out of using two apps at once — an ambient player in one hand and a timer in the other, each unaware of the other, the timer’s alarm always arriving like an interruption rather than a transition.

Putting the timer inside the audio session fixes that. The break doesn’t ring; the room changes. It is a small thing that turns out to matter across a whole working afternoon.

Questions

01Does Flow work offline?

Yes. Any set can be downloaded to the device and played with no network connection, which is what makes it usable on flights and commutes.

02Does Flow include a Pomodoro timer?

Yes. The Pomodoro timer is built into the playback session, so focus intervals and breaks are marked by the audio itself rather than by a separate alarm.

03Can Flow play in the background or with the screen off?

Yes. Flow uses standard iOS background audio, so playback continues with the screen locked and appears in Control Centre and on the Lock Screen.

04Is Flow free?

Flow is free to download with a portion of the library open. An optional auto-renewing subscription unlocks the full catalogue, downloads and the ambient video backdrops.
